Senator Curtis King - 14th Legislative District
In 2007, Curtis King was elected to the State Legislature, since then he has served the 14th legislative district.
Senator King has a long history in South Central Washington as a Yakima native and resides there with his family, including his wife Lois. He has served on the board of the Central Washington State Fair for 16 years and is also a former president of the board. His leadership experience is also apparent in his management of a commercial cabinet shop, which he ran with his father and brother and grew into a strong company.
Currently, Senator King is a Ranking Member on the Transportation Committee, a Ranking Member of the Labor, Commerce, & Tribal Affairs Committee, and a member of the Rules Committee. In the past, he was chair of the Senate Transportation Committee for two years after another two as co-chair.
In his work with the legislature, particularly on the Senate Transportation Committee, he became the primary sponsor of a widely successful transportation revenue package. This funded transportation megaprojects, about 150 road safety projects, and opportunities for road and bridge preservation.
