Senator Mark Schoesler - 9th Legislative District

Senator Mark Schoesler serves the 9th legislative district, which covers part or all of Adams, Asotin, Franklin, Garfield, Spokane, Columbia, and Whitman counties.

He was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1992 and served for 12 years (6 terms). He was then elected to the Washington State Senate in 2004 and, during his tenure, served for eight years as both the minority and majority Senate Republican Leader in the Majority Coalition Caucus (MCC) and Senate Republican Caucus (SRC). He is the longest-serving legislator in Olympia.

Senator Schoesler’s family has owned and operated their farm in Ritzville for five generations. He and his wife Ginger raised their three children and family in Adams County. 

During many legislative sessions, Senator Schoesler has prioritized fiscal stability and agriculture. He proudly represents the 9th district, which includes gorgeous agricultural lands and the public institutions of Washington State University and Eastern Washington University.

Acknowledged and esteemed for his unwavering dedication, Senator Schoesler has garnered widespread recognition for his significant contributions to the welfare of Washington and its residents. Much of this acclaim stems from his unyielding dedication to agricultural issues and his unwavering support for the prosperity of small businesses.

Among his notable accolades are multiple recognitions for the Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Business, the Perseverance Award from the Columbia Basin Development League, the Citizens Alliance for Property Rights Citizen’s Award, the Legislator of the Year award from the Washington State Farm Bureau in both the House and Senate, and Legislator of the Year from the Hunters Heritage Council.
